[RTTY] Fw: Antenna question

Zack and all the others who have sent me comments.

The consensus was that the chrome/copper rods would not work ( see below).
What I did was eliminate the need for the rods.  After talking to the people
at Hustler, I decided to up grade the  4-BTV antenna to a 6-BTV. The 6
bander does not use the rods and I just bypassed the problem by adding 30
and 80 meters.  I have everything ready to assemble and hope to give the
antenna a work out this weekend. With the tri band Yagi, G5RV and the
vertical, maybe I can hear something as we slide further down cycle 23.  I
will be in the CQ WW RTTY test this month.

I did a test with a sample of chrome covered brass about 1.5 inches
in diameter--the resistance was unexpectedly high--not suitable for
antennas.
I have no idea whether your rods are similar--plating is often done with
special processes protected by trade secrets.  You could test the rod
yourself
with an ohmmeter.
The quantity of aluminum you need is relatively small--it may be worthwhile
to purchase the aluminum online. I'd suggest
