actually, he was referring to the initial call, where the DE can certainly
be important - once you get to the exchange, it is no longer necessary, IMO.
my exchange is about as short as it can get:
%r%c 599 CA WK6I TU %e
had maybe five fill requests out of 1100+ Qs, so it can't be that bad!
