Im Here to agree with Patrick, For what its worth I had been out of RTTY
contesting for a while. I had downloaded N1MM/MTTY but became intimidated by
it. I was just returning to radio after a 5 year off air period and had lots
of new things to deal with. When I left sound card interfaces were just
being bantied about, when I returned by KAM was a dinosaur. But, to make a
long story short I had (K1TTT) answer some of my basic questions and wham I
had it working. Had a great time in cQww rtty. I had a very old version
and had some fits upgrading and dealing with quirks after upgrading but once
you learn the easy ways to up grade and simple little things like in the
versions after the very old one I first used (3.xx.xx) you have to put the
logging software into the correct mode to get it to send rtty well then my
problems have been solved. I am running juat about an identical computer to
Patrick also. My 2 cents N1MM logger and mtty a great combination.
PS these 2 cents brought to you by an old CT user 8-)

Waooouhhh...
To be honnest I was expecting the topic to be a bit hot... but I was not
expecting such an avalanche in my email in-box...
Now... I am not gonna reply point by point to every "pro" and "anti": with
N1MM
it's easy... download and try... if you don't like it just uninstall and buy
one of the available commercial product...
Just to say that here @f6irf, N1MM works (almost)perfectly with XP-home and
a cheap AMD 1.8G processor (although I am not a computer specialist)...
Also that I spent far less time to get N1MM running here at home, that it
took
me to get one of their commercial competitor to work at our club-station...
Of course I also had some troubles with some of the daily upgrades, but once
you
have found one which works, nobody forces you to upgrade... (especialy to
upgrade just before the contest start...)
Have now done 8 TTY contests with version 4 and never got any scoring
problem,
nor rejected cabrillo...
As mentionned the only purpose of this post, was to give a "tribute" to Tom
and
his team for the fantastic job they have done along the past few months: My
feeling is that they really brought their free product somewhere above their
commercial competitors...
But once again, it is my opinion, and only my opinion (at least I am sure
that I
cannot be accused of having been bribed...)
Now if you are happy with what you have, I have no problem with this!
Best 73's - Patrick
