Hi RTTY'ers
It has been a good one... had not worked 171 W's in a 24h one for quite some
time (a dozen on 4 bands). Only 7 XE's (like last year), but for some reason it
always looked more difficult to work XE, from here, than TX or CA.
Good surprises: VK6HD on 80m (which I managed to copy 100%, for once!) and NL7V,
surprisingly strong in the morning on 20 with ant to JA.
I used the R7 (re-tuned to 7040)with 300W on 40m half of the time (when the
bi-band dipole was used on 80) and it worked surprinsingly well, with a little
better perf than the low dipole for DX.
Probably missed a few mults on 15 with the "rotor-free" spider-wirebeam, but the
man-made QRN was too high when pointing E or SE, so kept it az40deg (JA) in the
morning and az300 (W) in the afternoon.
Also missed Phil GU0SUP, that I heard S&Ping W's on 20m, but I could not find
him CQ'ing...
See you all in the WPX. Patrick

PS: btw wish I could have 2xproIII on loan from Icom-EU, but considering our
past relations, very little chances ;-)

SO2R: 1 PC, 1 soundcard, no dedicated hardware.

Better conditions than expected taking into account the previous
weeks. 80 40 and 20 were in good winter shape, but 15m remained poor
and rarely allowed decent runs and EU Backscatter QSO's (thus the poor
mult score). Kept an hear on 10m, but though ZS and 4X beacons were
audible at times, nobody did show up...
Everything worked smoothly, and SO2R is really fun! (25% score improvement
comp. to last year).
Thanks all for Q's and see you in WPX.
Patrick
