Dear Bill

I am using a homebrew soundcard interface, using audio transfosrmators for
in and out, using optocouplers to switch
the ptt and sending cw.
I use this interface also for ssb contesting, via writelogs soundcard
voicebox.

If you are intrested in the schema and the printed circuit board etching
pattern I can send these in a pdf file.

This interface costs about 8 Euro for the circuit board and about 6 Euro for
very known components.

It works since june 2002 fine with my Mark V.

How handy are you with building electronic projects?

The commercial adapters certainly look nice and have good features --
but it really isn't hard to build your own interface. All it takes is a
couple of audio transformers and maybe an opto-isolator.
