[RTTY] dashes vs. no dashes

Right you are. Trouble is, with a computer you don't need an "enter"
key. It's called word wrap and most all programs do it by default. I
wonder why TTY machines don't have it. Many typewriters do.
The Teletype Model 28 offers a mod kit for automatic CR LF that will trip at
the end of a line, usually the 73 character. This has worked well for me,
especially when my machine is running in a contest and I can't afford to miss
an exchange that might pile up at the end of a line.
The Teletype Model 28 can also be modified to prevent overlining - receipt
of a CR but no LF causing a perfectly good line of printing to be overtyped
with new data. Good for RTTY Art but not so good for a QSO or a contest.
