[RTTY] Be Careful What You Ask For ...

Billy et al.

I'm average Joe and one of a few RTTY stations in section MB. Last time I
looked there were 3-4 logs submitted from here. Big Guns need the little
guys for that extra section. Normal exchange is pretty brief, but I'm
surprised by the 'thanks for section' late in the contest.

There are only so many big guns, just who do you think contributes to their
score? I didn't get an impressive score because of low power, poor
conditions here and lack of time, but I had fun, 35 QSO was my NAQP best
(first time). Maybe there should be a SOPC?R as in poor conditions, finals
gone QRP and NVIS grade antenna because that's the highest my wife will let
me put it.

Maybe, just maybe, then the light will go on as to it's not
the amount of gear ... it's the INDIVIDUAL OPERATOR
SKILL that makes the score happen ... <what a concept>

"Obsessive point gatherers"? ... it's a CONTEST folks, not a
drive through the local community park on a Sunday afternoon.

It's COMPETITION, get it?

Nobody is "shutting out" average Joe or Jane from making as
many, or as few Q's as their operator skills will allow ...
