Rick,
I use my '922 almost every time that I'm on RTTY.
I generally load it up to about 1kw input with the mode switch in the "CW"
position. Depending on band, this gives any where from 400-800 watts out.
Then I generally lower the drive to get about 400-500 out.
I can contest all day this way, and the '922 never gets warm. The shack
warms up a bit, but the amp itself stays cool.
Now, you must realize that the TL-922 was made to the old specifications
when FCC rules dictated 1 KW input. It is a bit dated when compared to the
newer amps that will run 1500 watts out on any mode.
Generally speaking though, it's a good old workhorse of an amp, but don't
expect it to run like the newer ones.
