Hi Phil and all,
Phil, thank you much, clear and straight forward expanation of using MMTTY in the Contest. I am going to keep this email for the future Contests.
My question is if MMTTY will count the points, mults, score etc like usual contest program? If so, then I would be using MMTTY alone.
Anyway, hope to see you and all on my screen in BARTG RTTY next weekend.
I will be using NP3D/W1 for BARTG.

  Hi all,

I am sure there will be some of you using MMTTY in the BARTG HF Contest this
weekend.
It can be done, but isn't the easiest thing.

However, if you do wish to use MMTTY alone, then perhaps this will help you
get going...............

To start with, open MMTTY. Now click on File, then "Open log data file".
Type BARTG into the window, and click on YES to create the file.
You now have to click YES again on the next window, which also suggests the
file doesn't exist, so do you wish to create it.
PLEASE NOTE: Do NOT set up logging for the contest before you do the above,
or your normal log will always want 599+001+UTC.

It will now open an empty log file. Close this, and you get back to MMTTY.

Now click on "options" at the top of the window, and click on "Set up
logging".
You get a window with the logging options. You will start with the INPUT
tab.
At the top left, there is a set of buttons, which will currently show
contest as OFF.
Set that to ON. Below that, set BARTG to on, and below that again, it will
show the report as 599+001+UTC.
Now click on the QSO tab at the top, and from there, you can set up the
macros however you like.
You will also be able to stipulate whether you are in CQ or S&P mode.
It would be worth setting up macros to just repeat the serial number, and
for the time, in case you are asked for those alone.

Now you are set to run the BARTG contest, and it will expect you to log RST
+ serial + UTC.
If you see 599-1044-001 on screen, please ensure you enter it the right way
round!

When you have finished the contest, you have your log saved as BARTG.MDT. If
you open that, you can then click on all the data, and export an ADIF file,
as well as a Cabrillo file.
Now open the "set up logging" again, and click on CONTEST OFF, to turn off
the contest mode.

Next time you come to use MMTTY, you will find that the RST window will once
more show 599+001+UTC, despite the fact that you turned contest mode off.
To get over this, open your normal log data file, and click on the last QSO.
Close the file, and go back to MMTTY, then click on the RST window, and wipe
out all the data apart from 599.
You should now be back to normal!

If you exported a Cabrillo file, it will be in the format of BARTG.TXT.
You will need to rename that as yourcall.LOG
Now you have to edit the header, which is in a basic generic format. Check
the BARTG website for an example of how it should look.
Once you are happy with the file, email it to John GW4SKA, the contest
manager.

This is NOT the fullest of explanations, but should give you enough to get
started.
For further explanation of the method of actually logging the contacts,
please read the MMTTYHLP.CHM file.

See you in the contest, and have fun!
