[RTTY] RTTY Screwed by FCC?

Charlie,

Look at page 41 of the Report and Order ...

Under the changes on S97.305(2) you will see:

> 40 m 7.000-7.075 MHz RTTY, data .... (3), (9)
> 40 m 7.075-7.100 MHz Phone, image ... (1), (2), (9), (11)
> 40 m 7.100-7.125 MHz RTTY, data .... (3), (9)
> 40 m 7.125-7.300 MHz Phone, image ... (1), (2)

That first line will make it illegal for US stations to use RTTY
or any other data mode between 7.075 and 7.100! After all, it
is vital to protect the KH6 and PK2/KP4 boys and their private
phone playground.

I think it is time for digital operators to petition for
reconsideration in part ... particularly regarding the loss
of 3600 - 3630 and 7075 - 7100. Digital modes operation is
growing faster than any other mode yet Digital just lost 50%
of the available spectrum on 80 and 40 meters!

73,

   ... Joe, W4TV
