It is very simple to translate the unshifted number
back to a number in Writelog.
If the report is 599 QWE QWE all you have to do is
"shift click" on the QWE to get 123 and it will put it
in the exchange. Of course the hard part is knowing
the start of the unshifted number. The top row of the
letters on the keyboard translate to the number row
above it.

One of the nice things about the N1MM approach is that you can "mouse
over" a garbled line and easily and quickly see if you've actually got
enough of the serial number to use.
I found it most useful.
