We had an ice storm last week. My beam, vertical and dipole have been coated
with 2 inches of ice for the past 6 days. The SWR has been out of sight on
all 3 antennas. I need the VU7 for a new one RTTY. I have sat here and
listened to the pile ups and almost cried. The beam is turned due East. I
have been unable to turn the beam North due to the ice and also, because the
brake would not release. Today the temp hit 34 F and by 1900z the brake
finally relapsed and I can turn the beam. I hope they come back on 20 meters
RTTY and give me a chance to work them. Such is the life of a DXer. I hope
to put some time in the next RTTY contest.
