I got one a few years ago and it was a surprise.  It is suppose to a surprise.  When two members who already belong to the A-1 club
recommend you for the club, you become a member.

Got an envelope from the ARRL today.  I thought it might be a certificate from some RTTY contest.  When I opened it, it was a
certificate for the A-1 Operator Club.  What is that about?  I don't even belong to the ARRL.  73 Tom W7WHY
