Paul, I don't follow your argument.

If it "doesn't take long to violate the 6 band changes/hr rule", then the
contest rules are LIMITING the effectiveness of SO2R. In other words, with
unlimited band changes, an SO1R operator could end up with a higher score! So
what's so bad about SO2R here?

Second, I can't think of any contests that limit band changes for single
operators. Many contests limit band changes for multi-operator categories to
prevent those stations from acting like multi-multi "octopus" stations.

Why does this SO1R vs. SO2R argument go around in the same circles time and
time again? Contest rules are very clear:

Single operator - ONE operator performs all receiving, transmitting and logging
functions.

If you have the ability, and can effectively operate two or more radios at a
time, and NEVER transmit two signals at the same time, and your score is higher
than the person who has only one radio, then you deserve to win (and the SO1R
operator deserves to lose).

Ability and mastery deserve to win every time. End of story. If you don't
like the rules, either don't operate the contest, or find a different category
to enter.
