That is true when AFSK is done properly. Done improperly, you can tell
the difference easily. I usually hear one or two improper ones during
every major  contest. If you want to do AFSK, it would be wise to do
an on-the-air test with someone who knows what to listen for. 

Once you have the wires connected properly, FSK is worry-free.AFSK, on
the other hand, requires constant attention to drive level, especially
when changing bands.
