[RTTY] Dayton 2008 RTTY Dinner? Let's do it

Great idea but historically very inaccurate. RTTY dinners were held in Dayton for some 30 odd years. They were hosted by Bill Henry of Hal Communications and he put a lot of effort, time and his money into keeping them going.

When Bill stopped going to Dayton they along with our hotel ceased being the RTTY gathering spot. The entire deal was kept going by Bill and Dale Sinner W6IWO for many years. It was all part of the RTTY Journal and Hal Communications story.

We had dinners on Friday (RTTY Contest) started by Ron K5DJ at the hotel, and the long standing Saturday dinner at the RTTY hotel. Last one was I believe the last time I was at Dayton along with Betsy WV7Y and Bill Henry K9GWT and his lovely wife.

Betsy and I did the work behind the dinner. Bill supplied the financial support and frankly we lost plenty of his money.

So glad that someone is firing something up, the good news is that Betsy and I will be in Dayton this year so will enjoy going to something run by someone else.

If anyone wants any of our old info I have it somewhere at home as we had a great caterer. The problem is always the hotels which in Dayton have little else to do but make money.
