[RTTY] Twin-Peak filters

There is no option to select "Low Tones" in my IC-756-Pro III for the Twin 
Passband Filters. I would assume this to be the case with the entire Icom 
line that has the TPF feature.

I always use the "High Tones" on RTTY, although it's irritating to some 
people in the house if I don't use my headphones. (I've wore out 4 sets of 
headphone cushions over the years and am due for another replacement.)

I agree that tuning by ear is efficient if you're good at "tone matching" 
but if you can't hear the tones, that's another story.

If you're using MMTTY for decoding, you can select the FIR demodulator and 
see if this helps. The FIR setting creates a very "crisp" + (plus) sign when 
a signal is tuned on frequency and quickly turns into an X if you're off one 
direction or another.

A second tuning aide is to put your RX into fine tuning mode, where one 
revolution of the knob equals only a few KHz. This allows you to creep up 
onto a signal without overshoot. The disadvantage is it's a lot of knob 
twisting to get from one end of the band to another. My Pro III has a "super 
fine" tuning mode which I find to be too slow so I use the medium setting.

None of this will solve a hearing deficiency, which my wife says is a 
problem for her. (I can't hear lots of things, she has very good hearing.)
