Joe,

I think I did this correctly. I unplugged the Foster plug from the Mark-5
and tested as you described.
Checking pins  5/6 - 5/4 - 5/7 I do not get any response on the volt meter.
Plugging the Foster plug back into the Mark-5 and testing the same pins on
the RB+ I get the readings you described. I tried every combination 3 or 4
times and no response. I am wondering if that close lightening strike killed
my sound card or what ever ?

Dick,

RB pins 5/6 are defined by your jumpers.  I'm referring to
the "Foster" (round) mic plug that connects to your Mark V
Field.  On that connector pin 5 should be ground (chassis)
and pin 6 should be the PTT line.

To start with, you should determine if the serial port that
provides PTT to the RB+ is providing voltage less than -5V
in receive and more than +5V in transmit on pins 4 (DTR) &
7 (RTS) - the reference point is pin 5 (ground).  That is
the way MMTTY/N1MM Logger communicate T/R switching to the
RB+.

The first step is to determine if you have the correct signals
coming from your computer.  If those are correct, then you
need to determine why the RB+ is not working correctly in
"Auto" mode.
