I'll have to make a change for the next contest. I use MMVARI and Logger32 for day to day operation with no problems. Of course, there aren't signals wall to wall like in the RU.

I use AFSK and MMTTY all the time for RTTY contesting (I should get off
my rear and get that FSK interface built). I always turn off the AFC
during contests. It's way more trouble than it's worth, especially when
you have several signals almost overlapping. I worked several eastern
European stations on 40 that had louder US stations almost on top of
them. That wouldn't have been possible with AFC on.

SK, hey that's me! :)

My pet peeve this year was being called by a number of stations that
insisted on sending VA5LF VA5LF DE <HISCALL>... Most of them ended up
getting stepped on by other stations or eaten by QSB so all I got was
"VA5LF VA5LF DE KSA27S2SRESJSH". Really slows things down.

This year was especially good for me, since I finally moved out of the
condo I've been in the last few years. I went from an indoor loop good
only on 20 up to an outdoor vertical. Now I can actually hold a run
frequency! Next year should be even better as we moved too late in the
year to get a tower up for the winter. Next spring that will be my main
project. :)
