Joe may very well be onto something here and it reminded me that there is a
feature of the MMTTY plug-in for WriteLog where you can
enable "AFC is automatically turned OFF while there are letters in the CALL
field". I never use it. The AFC function in MMTTY is
fast enough to catch just about anything that's within the passband. If
someone is too far out, I use RIT.

By default, I believe this feature is turned off. But to get to it in
WriteLog, you go to Rttyrite TU Type menu -> TNC Setup. On
the right side of that window is a check box for "AFC is automatically
turned OFF while there are letters in the CALL field".

>>>Thanks, Don, that sounds promising.

>>>Dick K7VC, please check to see if you have this feature enabled.

Dave,

Since both N1MM Logger and the MMTTY Plug-in for WriteLog have operationally
sensitive controls that turn AFC ON or OFF based on
whether the user is in "run" or "S&P" mode as well as whether there are
characters in the entry window, it would take some
significant data to show that the "MMTTY AFC bug" is really a fault of MMTTY
and not one of the host loggers or even something that
the user may be doing without realizing it.

I saw *no* anomalous AFC events in my few dozen contacts this weekend using
MMTTY 1.67A and WinWarbler.
