Rather than consider using old (and bulky)  DOS computer I suggest to consider using good Terminal unit  with a terminal program.

Brian has stopped advertising it. You might - emphasize might - be able
to purchase a copy if you sent a check for $100 to his snail mail
address at QRZ.com. Include your callsign because your callsign is
embedded in each copy as an anti-piracy measure. 

Don't feel bad, when I bought it it was $150.   :-)
