[RTTY] Contest exchanges:Adding their call

I'm with you Al.  I want to see that call print twice in the exchange, just 
so I can double check that it's not a busted call.

I got killed on busted calls before and really focus on that now as it's a 
great way to get a serious haircut on point totals.    Fortunately the bands 
were pretty quiet in the RU so the QRN was less of a factor.  I had good 
copy the first time on most.

I don't use much of a squelch setting and for me, the worst kind of reply to 
my run CQ is the 1x call with no leading or trailing delimiters.

It's not necessarily the squelch.  This happens when running on 
noisy/congested bands with AFC on.

I had several times when running that I'd be called by folks who apparently 
took the brevity advice on this reflector from last year to heart and would 
call sending their callsign just once. No DE, no AB2ZY DE.  What do you 
think is going to happen if AFC is on and MMTTY is off chasing the noise on 
40m or an adjacent signal?  They're 599 and I have to send AGN? 2 or 3 times 
before I can catch the full callsign and not just the suffix.

Your decoder squelch may have a settling time to establish its threshold.  I 
like to run with squelch OFF, or at least set well below prevailing signal 
levels.  You get more garbage characters in the absence of any signals, but 
that is really not a problem.
Whenever a signal is present, the garbage stops printing.

In MMTTY, click the SQ button to turn squelch off, or left-click in the 
green area to set the squelch to a low level.  The squelch threshold is 
indicated by the thin black line in the green signal area.  You can move the 
line around by left-clicking in that window.

It is also possible that your rig is taking a while to set its receive agc 
level.  Turning RF gain down, and using fast AGC may help with that.
