fldigi and flrig run on both the G4 and Intel OS X machines

You will find the TS590S fully supported by flrig.  fldigi can operate 
on a large range of digital modes including RTTY.

You can also run both of those programs on a Windows machine (including 
XP, Vista, Win7, Win8) if you prefer.
