[RTTY] ARRL and band/mode awards

Like Bill, I also have wondered why they don't offer more awards via LoTW. They started to expand by offering WPX, but then did not follow up with WAZ like they had announced at one time.

I have noticed they now break down by modes now in certain areas as I can look at different band totals for JT65 and JT9 along with Mixed, SSB, CW and RTTY. I'm wondering if they actually do plan on expanding to more awards once they feel LoTW is up to the task. I did see somewhere they are looking for more IT-type people for LoTW work. Perhaps there was a job posting. I don't recall now. I believe the ARRL does not feel LoTW is up to where it should be.

Adding more mode-type awards for both WAS, VUCC, and DXCC certainly would generate more revenue for them. But at what cost? To us, it seems like it would be a simple thing. But perhaps there's more involved than we realize and perhaps there is a larger plan.
