The default setting for fldigi from the programmer, W1HKJ, for TxID is OFF and even if someone happens to click on the RxID button in RTTY mode, it is disabled in RTTY. The programmer designed it correct. The fldigi operator can change the settings to transmit an TxID and it would become a QRM generator. The TxID is useful and used in some of the digital modes but is disabled for RTTY and PSK-31.

By mistake from a previous test at the start of the contest, I had fldigi's RxID checked and it would detect a digital signal and change modes on me. As soon as I realized what was going on I clicked RxID OFF and fldigi remained in RTTY mode for the rest of the contest.

When you hear a TxID on a fldigi RTTY signal, it is an operator error - not a programmer error. As a Mac user I know nothing about HRD and will not until it runs under OS X. Maybe some HRD operators can comment on HRD default settings for RxID and TxID.
