[RTTY] Change in pileup procedure?

Bill,
It's always good to hear (read) your thoughts. Believe it or not, this
topic came up before -- many years ago.
It was (after a lot of back and forth) decided that it created more
problems than it solved:
1. The response (UP 2-5) would be misconstrued by many. They would start
calling from 2 to 5 up and the time meaning would be lost.
2. Regardless of the siuation, other stations would continue to call, in
spite of an ongoing QSO in the 'UP' range. An attempt at a clear ongoing
QSO would be continually disrupted by those who are still not monitoring.
3. When the DX station moves "UP" his originial calling frequency will be
overrun, either by someone else calling CQ or others who are impatient
and calling the DX on his original calling QRG.
As they say -- keep on dreaming.
The reality is that as long as there is a wanted DX station, the band will
be overrun.
