QYF doesn't even need a split button. Even an ancient rig with only one 
VFO can do it. Just locate the DX calling CQ, move up to a clear spot 
and stay there.  Just keep calling him until either he answers you or 
you start getting QRM'd or you just get tired and give up. Only if you 
suspect the DX has QRT'd do you need to go back and listen on his 
frequency to see if that's the case.

Simpler than split.
