Besides winlink there are additional ALE (automatic link establishment) systems, one of which 
will be running a world Wide interoperability test for 10 days starting March 27.  Details and 
channels (there are 19 listed) used are at

If you're unaware of ALE systems here's a quote from the website

The innovative ALE system is a digital selective calling method, enabling radio users to ring each other up on High Frequency shortwave using their callsigns like a phone number.

Over three thousand ALE stations have registered so far, and many of them are on-the-air this week talking by single sideband (SSB) analog voice or digital texting.
