I have been a convert to Pseudo FSK for over 2 years now, using the FSKit.
While I can't speak to the quality of the signal that it puts out, I can
speak to the
ease of set up when using it.
Main advantages:
1. No comports needed, which virtually every computer or laptop sold today
doesn't have.
2. Uses a soundcard to generate the audio signal, which virtually every
computer or
laptop sold today has.
3. Every digital program includes AFSK as an option; 2 years ago, 2Tone did
not and I
wanted to use 2Tone as my major program.
4. Uses easy to obtain audio cables. No need to mess with DB9s or homemade
cables.
5. If you want to use SO2R and already have a box that will switch your
audio, you can use
that same box to route the audio to generate your FSK signal. No need for
a new controller.
6. Set up your computer as AFSK, set up your radio as FSK.
Results? We've used the FSKits at the K1LZ station the last 2 years using
W1UE, entering
as MS one year and M2 the other. Either set new category records, or came
close,
both years. I don't have the capability of measuring what kind of signal
it puts out, but I would
say that not many have had problems copying us based on our results.
