Dear Diddlers,

This is just a short note via the reflector to let you know the current
state of adjudication for the outstanding three 2016 BARTG contests. I am
happy to report that I am just in the process of cleaning up the soapbox
comments and setting the certificate details for all three contests. Yes,
like London busses, you wait a long time then several come all at once.

The reason behind the time needed to adjudicate is that the January Sprint
and the March HF are major world-wide contests and as such attract a lot of
activity. Whilst this is a good thing, it has its hidden pitfalls. The HF
contest entrants reported a total of 134384 QSOs reported by the 745
entrants of which 40960 QSOs were with 736 stations who failed to send a log
in. There was certainly one probable certificate winner who failed to submit
a log. Now the adjudication programme I use breezes through the checking of
submitted logs, and then it creates the logs as best it can of those who
didn't send them in. This is where the major focus is placed. In these logs
are revealed the Uniques, Busted calls, and most commonly received serial
number errors. It takes time, a lot of time ferreting around in these
fabricated logs and the software I have been using doesn't handle the job
well at all. I am trailing a new adjudication package that happily does, and
has made a significant impact on the time to do the fabricated log analysis.

So look forward to the next announcement from me as I expect to be posting
the results by the 12th December 2015 for your perusal. The 2016 Experts
List will also be available shortly thereafter so you know your correct
section for the 2016 season.
