Only got a few rst reports...I just went on. I ever received some complete
exchanges on the first call...I just went on. I think at 75, I have become
more patient with the newer people.

I remember with a mechanical printer in 1976, working an EU station who
asked me to quit sending line feeds, as I was "wasting" his paper...those
were interesting days.

Actually, I found a fun section on Facebook, Amateur radio with 38,000
members. I have read through some of the questions, and am just plain
thrilled to see all the young people getting their licenses and asking
"starter questions." When you start, there is no such thing as "dumb
questions. There are even some people licensed a while asking about stealth
antennas and the like.

When I started in 1963 with a $100 a week income, I had an older ham give me
used coax connectors that had been used by West Texas Utilities. I was
thrilled to get them figuring out how to "remove" the old coax that had been
very well soldered--hih.

Saturday afternoon, about 14088 on USB were two Latinos conversing in
Spanish right on top of RTTY signals. I turn a beam south where their
signals peaked. They never gave a single call sign over many minutes.

Here in Georgia, 15m actually was open about 2000z. Way down in signal was a
ZM calling CQ contest. I tried short path and then long path, then he was
S7, and was gone 20 minutes later. Back to 20m, heard some 6s working Japan,
but I never printed them.

For me, 20m went out around 2300Z, went to 40m, not many stations there, but
worked into eastern EU...then went to 80m working some 1s, 2s, and a couple
of 7s.

That sunspot report last week showed no sunspots, so for me, not many
signals or else low participation.

I like the shorter exchanges, but get embarrassed at my low, low serial
numbers, but some times, even on a Saturday, professional healthcare duties
call.

My favorite exchanges are names, ages, and the like. That way no
embarrassment over low, low numbers.

It was, however, a surprise to me, that I won first place in the RTTY
Roundup, SO, HP in the Georgia section. First time I ever won anything--hihi
