Hi All,

I received the following message from Marty Woll, N6VI regarding
California Assembly Bill 1228. If you think that you may ever want to
put up an antenna tower in California, please take some time to write a
letter to Assemblyman Salinas indicating your support for AB 1228.
Letters that will be included in the committee consultant's analysis
(e.g. the ones that really count) need to be received (not just
postmarked) by March 28, 2003, so don't delay.

Thanks!!

Mike Tope, W4EF..............................

P.S. I couldn't get Marty's attached sample letter to post to
the reflector the first time I tried it (the message was too
big). Drop me an email if you want a copy of it.

Subject: Protect your Tower Rights - Write Today!

To my fellow CA hams:

We have, at last, a real chance to start undoing the years of damage done to
the amateur radio service by overzealous zoning regulators and local
governments! A key hearing will be held on April 2 for Assembly Bill 1228
(AB 1228), the Amateur Radio antenna bill introduced last month by
Assemblyman Bob Dutton (R-63rd). This bill would, if signed into law,
incorporate the language of PRB-1, the Federal preemption concerning
restrictive zoning of amateur antennas and towers, into California law as
over a dozen states have already done.

PLEASE WRITE TODAY IN SUPPORT OF THIS BILL. IN POLITICS, NUMBERS MATTER!

I've attached my letter as just one sample; your letter can be very brief
(one or two sentences), or you can elaborate on your own observations and
opinions. Please address your letters to:

    Assemblymember Simon Salinas, Chair
    Assembly Local Government Committee
    1020 N Street, Room 157
    Sacramento, CA 95814

According to ARRL Director Art Goddard W6XD, "The Committee Consultant
assigned to AB1228 is Frances Chacon and she is looking forward to receiving
letters concerning AB1228. She said to put in large letters somewhere on the
envelope and right under the address of the letter "AB1228 (Dutton)
SUPPORT".....her phone number is (916) 319-3958 if anyone would like to talk
to her about the process.

"The deadline for letters to the committee to be included in the
consultant's analysis for the April 2 Committee Meeting is 5:00 PM on
Friday, March 28, 2003 unless the committee meeting gets postponed ... ."

Thanks to W6XD, to Mike Mitchell W6RW. to Doug Brandon W6RT and others who
are helping get the word out.

73,

Marty Woll N6VI
