[SCCC] SteppIr Opinions wanted

	I am seriously considering purchasing a Monster StepIr antenna
in the not too distant future.

	This is the big one with 36 ft Boom and 70 ft Elements.
It would replace  a 23 year old Telrex Monarch ( trapped) that has 7 EL on 
33 ft Boom
with 3 almost full size elements on 40, 3 EL on 20, 4 EL on 15 and 4 EL on 10.
( I do not for several reasons, put up a Christmas tree of Monobanders for 
40 thru 10 mtrs)

	I find the Telrex to perform extremely well on 40, 20 and 15 but not so 
good on 20.
I have heard all the know all the POSITIVE comments about them but I am 
certain there must be
some negative comments or opinions or thoughts and would appreciate your 
comments in
that realm.

for those of you who may want to take a look at their antennas if you have 
not already
seen them.

    From looking at the mechanical assemblies do any of you see any 
inherent or potential
failure modes for this antenna?

	I  have already surmised that if anything wears out, jambs or comes loose 
in the
motor/element assemblies ...one is going to  pay dearly if this is their 
only antenna in a
contest.
