The FCC has voted to eliminate the code requirement for all
amateur radio license testing...

"This change eliminates an unnecessary regulatory burden that may
discourage current Amateur Radio operators from advancing their
skills and participating more fully in the benefits of Amateur
Radio," the FCC said.

MY TAKE ON THIS RULING...

"This change eliminates an unnecessary regulatory burden that
has prevented Citizens Band radio operators with limited skills
migrating into Amateur Radio."

"This ruling will now generate a wider customer base, allowing
the acquisition of equipment from, and participating in,
the negative trade balance in the US economy and
improving the bottom line profits of off-shore firms,
following major US Government policy."

"This change will guarantee the dramatic reduction in the pool of
skilled radios operators diluting our resources in the event
of major emergency situations where CW will be the only
means of reliable communications."

"This decision will require all telegraphy keys be surrendered
to the Federal government for public destruction on or before April 15,
2009.
The event will occur in the Rose Garden of the White House, supervised by
former US President Hillary Clinton and her husband Bill."

"The FCC in cooperation with American Gun Safety, the Brady group, the
United
Nations and approximately 100 anti- gun owner organizations will also
demand the
surrendering of privately owned guns by all current Amateur Radio operators
assuring a non-violent backlash. The date of the surrendering will be
thirty
days prior to the destruction of all telegraphy keys and associated
equipment."
