Ah, the good old Wild Goose. Art, you should be ashamed of yourself for even admitting you frequented that place.

Most memorable from the Wild Goose: Remember the Dueling Banjo's song from the movie DELIVERANCE?? Taken to a new high there, one bright cheery lunchtime circa 1973. zowie

A great choice plus it's just down the street from the 'Wild Goose'..
    http://www.thewildgoose.com

When I worked in El Segundo, we would have lunch at the Wild Goose,
then dinner at The Proud Bird if we worked late....This was in the 70's.
We would take Midwest customers to the Wild Goose and turn
their brains to oatmeal......Nothing like that in Cedar Rapids!!!

    Art W6KY Merry Christmas All...

No matter the location, some will come - many will not.

As a venue near LAX, may I suggest the PROUD BIRD on Aviation Bl?? Right at
the east end of the southern runways, easy to get to from 405 or 105
freeways, good food, used to handling groups, and just a marvelous place to
view airplane memorabilia.

    Dick,

Maybe would it make sense to collect a list of likely to attend, then
choose a location that would be optimal in terms of driving time/distance?

In any case, count me in tentatively.

73 and season's greets to all

[Will be making an effort in the Stew Perry this year (1500Z Dec 30- 1500Z
Dec 31). Only (?) contest where you get extra points (X2 and X4) for
working LP and QRP stations. so from LA you get 4 pts for working n6zfo,
and 8 pts for working our NCCC Qrp guy N6WG, the latter score alomost
equalling an East Coast HP qso. see

      Mark your calendars.

There will be a dinner meeting of the Southern California Contest Club
on Friday evening, January 12th. The exact location is still to be
determined, but will be near LAX Airport.

Bernd Langer, VK2IA, VK9AA, DL1VJ, etc. will be in town, and is
staying at the airport Marriott that night. The meeting will be a
chance to meet Bernd, who is one of the most active Australian
contesters.

If anyone has a suggestion of where to meet, please let me know.

Happy holidays to all.

Dick Norton, N6AA
