Just a few observations and comments:
I only operated a few hours on 40 and 80m in the evening, so I can't say
much about the high bands, other than what I saw in the logs. Being that we
were operating multi, most of the time was spent CQing, probably too much.
We worked lots of W's as reflected by our relatively low multiplier count.
As for WRTC stations, other than EU and JA opening, the yagis were pointed
due East, half way between the New England and PY land. No WRTC stations
were worked on 10 & 15m, I guess they were chasing EU or QSYed to other
bands when the band was open for us. We worked a few on 20m, but the bulk
were on 40 & 80m CW. Most of the signals on both bands were copy able, I
thought, but apparently the operator here could not hear the station W6UM
was referring to. No WRTC station signals were outstanding at any time or
band.
I guess because of lack of our S&P, we worked only 27 WRTC stations. A note
of interest, we never logged any of the top three WRTC winners! While some
of the bottom placing stations we worked two or three times. Maybe they
spent too much time S&P, while the top guys were calling CQ??? I'm sure we
missed a lot of the WRTC stations since we had only 125 phone contacts, vs.
1175 on CW. Like my badge I wear at the DX Convention says, "I don't speak
fone".
Had a good time and enjoyed working what we did, especially the opening to
EU on 15m. My congratulations to winners, job well done. It will be
interesting to hear first hand their stories.
