Sorry if this is a repeat but looks like I bounced it the first try.

Hi All,

I have a TS-950SD that has some unique and uncommon problems
with RX AGC and TX ALC.

My feeling is that if I send it to Kenwood, it will wind up going back and
forth
several times costing me a fortune in ship charges as the problems seem to
be somewhat illusive.

I have found a service manual and after several hours of troubleshooting by
a very
competent local tech, he is throwing in the towel.

I'd gotten a report from my local tech that another 950SD had exhibited a
similar
AGC problem several years ago ( Internet thread ) but that an entire
circuit board had been replaced
as problem was too illusive to narrow down, and that this board is no
longer available
or cost effective to replace. It appears that the problem has been in the
rig since it was new !
( It's a mode that only serious Ops or contestors may use but the average ham
would never have discovered it ! )

Does anyone know a tech who works on especially tough TS-950 problems
and has their shop located in SoCal area? ( If not SoCal, then where? )
