I thought the same thing, but I now believe the spring type are the way to
go. I have two paddles, and recommend both.
1. Bencher single-lever (ST-1)
2. Schurr PROFI 2 (dual-lever, but easy to use as non-iambic)
I haven't had to adjust either in years.
