I really like the FT1000MP MK-V, Rick. W6VPH
convinced me I should buy one, and I have been extremely
happy that he did. I loaded mine up with INRAD filters
including the 70 MHz 1st IF roofing filter. I have a pair
of 500 Hz wide CW which are good for contesting, and
I recently installed a 250/125 Hz filter combination which
works extremely well for pulling weak signals out of the
noise on 160 meters (especially when used in conjunction
with the built-in 60Hz BW DSP filter).

I see W6RU has a MKV Field for sale on the list. I think,
but I am not 100% sure that the only difference between
the two rigs is the PA (200 watts and external supply vs.
100 watts and internal supply). If you can verify that
receivers are indeed the same and you don't mind the
lower output power, then I would definitely recommend
that you consider the MKV Field.

BTW, my biggest beef with the radio is the TX audio
monitor circuit leaves a bit to be desired on SSB, but
otherwise I am real happy with the FT1K MKV
