Put in a few hours ( 13 ) to play with my new K3 Transceiver. When the going
got tough on Receive,
I put the K3 up against my venerable FT-1000D. The DSP in the K3 helped dig
weak stns out of the noise
( No DSP in FT-1000D ) but when I was on quiet bands, the FT-1000D typically
won out due to some anomalies with the RX Audio
and various headsets/earphones I tried using with the K3 that I typically
have used on my 1000D and TS-950SDX in the past .
Will have to discuss this issue with Elecraft. I plan to give the K3 a
workout in WPX CW in May and see how it does
against my favorite CW contest rig, the Ft-1000D.

Getting used to a small front panel and multi function knobs and buttons
took some getting used to
after using some large front panel rigs with separate controls ( like the
1000D, 950SDX and Icom 7800 )

I am looking forward to taking this rig out to Field and sure look forward
to lugging 50 lBs less of rig !!!
