Based on the claimed scores that are now posted on the ARRL website,
the Southern California Contest Club had the highest club aggregate
score in the September VHF contest--by a wide margin.

SCCC had about 2.5 million points, well ahead of the elite eastern
VHF contest groups. Northeast Weak Signal Group (NEWS) had roughly
1.5 million, while the Potomac Valley Radio Club and Mt. Airy VHF
Radio Club both had club scores just under one million.

SCCC also had the top club aggregate in the August UHF contest,
winning by a similar margin--again based on claimed scores posted
on arrl.org.

Until recently, west coast stations had no chance for top scores
in VHF-UHF contests. But by relying heavily on rovers who travel
together to create activity in places where there normally isn't
much, we've been able to put up scores that are competitive
nationally. To keep doing that, we need more OPERATORS. If
you're available for VHF SS the third weekend in January, I'd
love to hear from you.
