First time doing Sweepstakes high power (400w) but it seemed like the same
struggle. I expected to do better, although the total was close to my best
low power score. I heard NT a few times briefly on 15m but couldn't get the
contact. The other missed section, not for the first time, was SB. I always
worry about that one. Many fewer CA stations than usual in the log. Very few
Canadians heard, didn't work a VE3 until the second day. MDC was everywhere,
lots of ME and RI too. I put up a low band sloper hoping to boost my 80m
numbers but couldn't get it above 25ft, and at that height the vertical
consistently had better receive on all bands.
I'll probably skip the SS Phone and save my energy for CQ WW.
