[SCCC] 160M residential lot antenna

You might consider a Cushcraft MA160V as a separate antenna.  It is a 
little pricey but it
works very well.  W1JR did a comparison several years ago with another 
vertical and found
it to work very well.  (The writeup is on the Top Band reflector.)
 
It is easy to assemble and tune.  The impedance can get pretty low 
depending on how many
radials are under it.  
 
I have been using one for a couple years and like it because I can put it 
up quickly and
take it down after a contest, no tower needed.  In the ARRL 160 Contest I 
only missed
NNY and PR which I never heard.  I had two Europeans answer my CQ at their 
sunrise.
 
My second choice is an inverted L but it takes a lot of property for the 
horizontal part.
I have tried a half sloper but had no luck tuning it, probably because of 
the height
of 58 feet with a 40-2CD as top loading.  Shunt feeding an existing tower 
is a possibility
but may require a lot of work for a telescoping tower.  (I have never tried 
it.)
 
Antennas on 160m are always a challenge.
