Comments:
With my trust multiband attic dipole again and Kenwood TS0-50. First time
in the IOTA Contest. Used the “SD by EI5DI” logging software specially
tailored (with template) to the IOTA test. Very nice seeing pertinent islands
displayed. Spent a good bit of time learning the software, but it works
very well. I’ve gotta get the PC to talk to my radio soon and my life would be
easier during contests. Kept a notepad and pencil nearby (worked only CW)
for backup but really entered nearly everything directly on the keyboard.
And my confidence is building with this too. And, as I was advised, there IS
a lot of time to enter the numbers via touch-typing even at higher speeds.
The numbers are just so darn (fortunately) long. The trick is to copy them
accurately (and a tad behind) in your head to begin with! Cool. Found
FO5RH on (island) OC-066 (Tuamotu Archipelago—French Polynesia) sending really
slow, but, hey, everyone slowed down for him and worked him! I hope to
activate some of many islands of Panama someday. That would be a lot of fun.
73--Bob
