Nothing wrong with split operation. It's the 'proper' way when the
pile-up gets crazy....
Whats not proper is:
Listening for 'your last 2 please'.
Taking a list
Having someone take a list for you.
By call area..
And last, not working me...
Have fun, 73 Art W6KY

I used to be indecisive. Now I’m not sure....

Subject: [SCCC] OK to work split during IOTA Contest?
I am part of a group planning an IOTA activation during the RSGB IOTA Contest
July 30-31.
Given:
The amount of activity in the IOTA contest is relatively light. The bands are
not filled.
The pileups for the IOTA stations are huge, and are the hardest ones to crack of
any contest, IMHO.
We will be using low power, probably 50 or 25 watts, due to battery and solar
panel limitations (no generators allowed).
Question:
Would it be OK for us to operate split, maybe up 1 for CW, up 2 for SSB?
I am not asking whether or not the contest rules allow splits, because I think
it is allowed. Is it just bad etiquette?
Tnx & 73,
Tim K6GEP
