Dick,
There's more than sanity involved in you operated for 43 hours. Some
Sprint!!
I'm reminded of the unfortunate but timely demise of a pesky line noise
source when we operated CQWW from P29. Any chance the same Act of God could
happen in Topanga?
xd

Comments:
S9+ power line noise from north through east resulted in my antennas being
aimed
south-south-east where the noise was only S5 or S6. At least I was
apparently
loud at 9V1YC's. Southern California Edison actively refuses to fix noise
which
is now far worse than it has ever been in the 40 years I've lived here.
Had the K3's noise reduction, "NR," on the entire time, which allowed some
semblance of copy. Still, could often hear traces of stations not copy-able,
and also had to abort a few QSOs before finishing them. Of course,
transmitting
with the side of your antenna aimed at the station you are calling also
exacerbates the getting-sand-kicked-in-your-face by the competition when you
are both calling.
Worked all the multipliers I heard, err I mean "identified," but never heard
Michigan or NP4Z or any Canadians except VE3, 7, and 9.
The noise was so unpleasant that I question my sanity remaining on the air
for
43 hours. Aarggh!
