I'm posting this at Wayne's request. (He has limited e-mail access on Rarotonga.) Give him a call this afternoon or tomorrow.

Subject: Look for E51YNB on 15
Please look for E51YNB on 15 meters only during the ARRL SSB DX contest this weekend. I didn't announce this trip
to Rarotonga earlier because there were a lot of unknowns. But after a trial run Thursday afternoon, everything seems
okay. I'm here, my gear is working and people are hearing me.
I'm at the same motel on Rarotonga where the E51Z gang operated CQ Worldwide SSB last October. I installed a
2-element 15-meter Yagi where their 10-meter Yagi was. Look for me high in the band (above 21.310) because the
antenna is resonant about 21.400 now. It was resonant at 21.220 back home in Tustin. It came here in a 30"
rolling duffel bag from Costco and must have shrunk during the flight. Obviously, this is Costco's fault!
This will be my first-ever DX contest experience anywhere more than 25 miles from the U.S. border. To be doing this
for the first time after 55 years on the air must be close to a record. Unfortunately, it can't be a full-time
effort because we have to fly home late Saturday night. There's only one flight a week from Rarotonga to the USA
that doesn't involve a 4000-mile detour via New Zealand. This also won't be very serious because I have no clue how
to handle the kind of pile-up that happened Thursday afternoon. This doesn't happen much on 10 GHz or even
two meters.
