Fred,
You are not required by FCC to sign portable-anything, or /mobile,
ever. So keep it simple and just use your normal callsign.
Regarding DXCC, you have only 'one account' with them in the
contiguous states. This means you can fly to Connecticut, visit a
station there, use your own callsign (if the owner allows it), NOT
sign portable-- and any new DXCC entity you might work from there
counts for your KI6QDH record. In the old days we had to work
everything from the same call area for it to count, as I recall.
Back to your WPX operation-- I'm not an LOTW guy (yet). In the
specific case where you might go off to a rare grid and operate, then
you might have to do some followup with LOTW if you wanted your
non-standard grid to count for other people. But this is WPX with a
serial number exchange, and you're not doing this specifically to
provide a rare grid, most likely, so it's a non-issue.
