Doug K1DG was impressed at the speed of our club donations.

Please see his email below for further ways to help WRTC2014 after we meet
our goal:

Wow - that was fast!

Of course, there is no limit in effect here...if SCCC would like to sponsor
additional rooms at the Team Village beyond those for the NA#6 teams, we
will be happy to accept the members' tax-deductible contributions towards
unfunded rooms.

WRTC is an expensive project, and is being funded entirely by contributions
and a small amount of advertising. Unlike some previous WRTCs, we have no
deep-pocketed Directors bankrolling us, and no government or corporate
support.

You can estimate the total cost per station by adding up the prices of a
40-foot Rohn 25 tower, tribander, rotator, Honda eu2000i generator,
tilt-base system, 450 feet of coax (with connectors), 3 tables, 3 chairs,
10x13 tent, lamps, fans, and a lot of little overnight camping stuff. Then
multiply that by 65 (59 teams plus 6 hot-spares in case of last-minute
line-noise or other issues).

Then add the cost of a week's worth of hotel rooms and meals for 59
two-operator teams and 59 referees.

We've done well getting discounts from generous manufacturers and
distributors (their logos and banner ads are on our Web site), and Times
Microwave donated all the coax (make sure the next time you need to buy
LMR400, you buy it from the original source!). But it still adds up to a
big number.

We've raised about 2/3 of the total budget so far, and only have a year to
go.

Any additional donations from the SCCC gang would be greatly appreciated.

And if anyone is interested in our VIP Donor package, including
"all-access" passes, exclusive tours, and even private concierge service at
both WRTC2014 and the ARRL Centennial National Convention in Hartford the
weekend after WRTC, please contact me for details.

73,

Doug Grant K1DG
