One of the goals of the W7RN station is to pioneer remote contesting. It is currently sanctioned for CQ WW contests and we expect it to be adopted by other contest sponsors.

Specifically, you would have a K3 or a K3/0 and an interface box and you would log into W7RN remotely (from anywhere that has a high speed internet connection) for a specific operating slot, like 40 long path or 15 JA run. Each operator would incur the cost of the K3/0 and interface from Remote Ham Radio (or just the interface box if you have a K3) and a setup fee. The host station would pay the cost of connectivity for the time you are on the air. (see http://remotehamradio.com for their other membership pricing and details).

Once we have tested the “hired gun” category, the RHR boys would figure out cost effective options for enhanced options like using a remote station for a dedicated contest period single op.

Question #1 – Does remote contest operating appeal to you and your lifestyle? (as opposed to finding a house in a unrestricted area and building a station)

Question # 2 - Are you interested in becoming a remote operator using this scheme?

Question # 3 - Are you interested in becoming a remote operator of W7RN using this scheme before CQ WW DX next month?

PLEASE ANSWER OFF LINE and I will post the collated results.
